Duration: WcK offers work camp programs that vary in length as follows. The location of the projects and time changes every season depending on the community needs around the year. The volunteer works for five days a week and may spent his /her weekend to relax unless there are other arrangements at the work camp site.

Camps are:
a) Short-term Workcamp Programmes: from two t three weeks  open
b) Medium and Long Term (from one to six months)open
c) Long Term (from six months)open
d) Help A School Programme (HASP) (Period: January, March, May, July, September, November)open

Most of the work camps are available at community level and are meant to develop boost community growth or development around Kenya. Human Rights project are suitable for law students, political scientist, anthropologist, economists and civil/human rights activist. The volunteer is free to assist the community in any other ways one wishes

Besides the work camps focuses on numerous activities among them are:

A.  Nature and Environmental Conservation
B.  Civil, Human Rights and Social Justice
C.  Child orphanage and care, OVC (orphans and vulnerable children)
D.  HIV/AIDS patient care and home based care
E.  Rehabilitation of basic social amenities
F.  Basic Medicare Provision, Health care and Hygiene education
G.  Teaching and Help A School Program
H. Protection and care for the girl child.

Orphanage in Kenya

Orphanage placements in Kenya are the most popular volunteer projects we have in Kenya today. The Volunteer in this exciting and rewarding program provides very important assistance to the needy children who are often homeless, orphans and needy. The volunteer spends time teaching English, creative activities, games, providing basic health care, preparing and counseling.

The volunteer are required to provide inspiration, warmth, love and security to enhance a sense of belonging, comfort and identity in the wider community. It is an area worth trying in volunteer world; the end result is to change a poor child s life!

Daily life at local work camps

The Volunteers work about 7-8 hours per day from Monday to Friday, with occasional work being done on Saturdays. The work is usually done before 1 pm, so that afternoons are free for various trips or other leisure activities.  In the evenings, each camp arranges its own program of leisure and creative activities, including discussions, songs, dances and games.  Weekends are free and allow time for excursions to various local attractions. Project partners are responsible for your room and board.
